Antique Chinese Sterling Silver Dragon Bosun’s Boatswain’s Pipe, Call, Whistle. Antique Chinese Sterling Silver Bosun’s Call or Pipe, Boatswain’s Whistle. Keel is Decorated with 4-Toed Dragon Chasing Pearl. It is marked “STERLING” on the keel, as pictured. Likely dates to the 1800s-early 1900s. Highly detailed 4-toed dragons can be seen on each side chasing the pearl (the buoy of the call). Measures a long 5 7/8 in length, or 14.8cm. The gun is nicely curved and the keel is straight, as you can see in the image from the bottom. Small dent can be seen in the bottom of the buoy and a small bend on the opening on the buoy. These signs of age and use should be no problem at all to have removed, if desired, but I prefer the honest “as-found” look. No issues that detract from the beauty of this incredible Chinese/nautical cross-collectible! Old patina and light signs of years of use consisting of surface scratches, rubbing.
