The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. Chinese Stonecutters were considered some of the finest artisans in the world during the Vintage Era. They would carved western themes as well as the more rare traditional eastern themes into their many pieces. It was in Chinawhere the gem-carving tradition was already thousands of years oldthat jadeite reached its peak as an important artistic medium. The first jadeite reached China in the late 1700s, and late eighteenth and early nineteenth century carvers created masterpieces that are still unsurpassed in concept, design, and technical execution. The Jade in this piece is beautifully hand carved to look like two clashing dragons! The dragons feature incredible details on their face that include their teeth, eyes, mouth and even their flowing whiskers! The dragons also show case fierce details down the length of their body that would of been entirely carved to perfection by hand! The Jade itself is an absolutely gorgeous lavender purple color and features gorgeous striations of white that create a beautiful and natural color pattern! The gold work in this gorgeous hinged bracelet features chased designs along both gold caps that attach the bracelet together! The gold work has also been beautifully hand polished with a smooth surface. The bracelet measures 7 long and is finished off with a push in style clasp that works perfectly. The clasp is decorated with a stunning safety chain that gives you added protection to your investment. The bracelet measures over 1/4 wide along the dragon carving! To have a bracelet that is this intricately, and skillfully carved is incredibly rare.
