A beautiful hand-made Antique Chinese FAMILLE VERTE Dragon and Longevity Medallion Plate, likely originating from the Guangxu Period and Marked on the Bottom – along with a wooden display stand. This gorgeous rare antique piece is finely hand painted probably by an Imperial Palace master painter, and is a very scarce model of a Famille Verte GuangXu Period plate – depicting the Red Five-Claws Imperial Dragon looking forward and surrounded with flame ruyi clouds interspersed within 18 red bats flying among 24 traditional longevity medalions. The word’bat’ in Chinese sounds identical to the word for’luck’ – the symbolic meaning of the bat is thus commonly recognized as good fortune in Chinese culture (and meaning the five blessings – a concept that signifies a grouping of certain good fortunes and luck). The beauty of the red colors are enhanced against the pale-turqoise underglazed background, and the under-base bears a reign mark – a six underglaze red script character mark made in the years of the GuangXu Reign Period of the Great Qing Dynasty. The piece was professionally cared for and is in overall excellent condition commensurate with age, with no surface or structural damage. The plate comes with the wood stand display.
