A wonderful late 19th- early 20th century Chinese or Japanese card / cigarette case measuring 3.25″ x 2.5″ x about 1/2 thick with a curve shape to fit against one’s chest. Marked as in the last pic. Featuring in high relief a working falcon tethered on his post and a dragon on the reverse. A highly unusual subject by a master silversmith, probably a commission piece for someone into falconry. I’ve had this 18 years and have never seen another case with a falcon. Probably sterling but has not been tested and is not marked sterling. Examined by two antique silver dealers who say its sterling. Japan did not use 925 and the sterling mark until 1928. It tarnishes like sterling. I cannot guarantee this will fit your cigarettes, cards or personal needs.
