ANCIENT DYNASTY CHINESE JADE BI HALF DISC with dragons on both ends and sides
ANCIENT CHINESE HAN DYNASTY JADE BI. With dragons on both ends and both sides and a small dragon is under the clouds at the center, and other designs may symbolize the heaven. The incised designs are nearly the same on each side. The dragon’s head is distinguished from the preceding types by the axe-shaped silhouette of the lower jaw. The item is 26cm x 11cm. Which dynasty is known for bi discs of jade? Is a type of circular ancient Chinese jade artifact. Later examples date mainly from the Shang, Zhou and Han dynasties. He bought the item for a much higher price, unfortunately his son broke it.

50g Old Chinese 16k Gold Carved Coral Dragon Bird Paradise Figural Disc Pendant
A Stunning One of A Kind Old Vintage or Antique Chinese 16k Gold Carved Salmon Coral Dragon Bird of Paradise Figural Disc Pendant. The top ring hook is marked 18k as shown in a close up pic. Which 18k mark means very little, because the metal of the pendant was professionally tested and it’s confirmed guaranteed to be solid 16k gold. On my scale item weighs 50 grams, keep in mind that my scale could be slightly off +/. Item is about 2.5″ diameter, or it’s about 3.25″ to end of hook. The pendant has two sides. One with an applied carved coral figural group of a geisha with a child. The figures are embellished with a tree with 17 faceted amethysts or rubies gems, an opal, and an apple green cabochon jade. The back side has a dragon, a bird of paradise with tree faceted rubies or amethysts gems for eyes, and a turquoise cabochon. The coral has 4 or 6 aligned cracks as shown in pic 11, please enlarge to examine it. It’s either the “cracks” were made by the artist, that symmetrically combined two pieces of coral, the geisha, and the child, or it’s the result of an impact or a fall. Regardless, the flaw doesn’t affect the safety, as the coral sits sturdy with tree clamps. The top hook has a minor bent. Otherwise item is solid, gorgeous, and ready to wear. THIS LISTING IS FOR A RARE 19th CENTURY ANTIQUE CHINESE HAND CARVED JADE “BI” DISC OR AMULET WITH STYLIZED DRAGON AND SYMBOLS IN THE DESIGN MOUNTED ON WOODEN STAND. THE “BI” HAS NICE DETAILS AND BEAUTIFUL DARK GREEN COLORATION IN THE STONE. THE BI SITS ON A ELABORATE CARVED WOODEN STAND WHICH HAS ORIGINAL PAPER LABEL ON BASE WHICH DATES THE STAND TO THE 19th CENTURY. IT’S HARD TO ACCURATELY DATE THE “BI”, HOWEVER, WE BELIEVE IT TO BE 19th CENTURY OR EARLIER. THE “BI” MEASURES 2 7/8″ IN DIAMETER AND 1/4″ THICK WITH THE CENTER HOLE BEING 5/8 IN DIAMETER. THE STAND MEASURES 3 3/4″HIGH, 3 1/2″ WIDE AND 2 DEEP. WEIGHS 4.6 OUNCES. A “BI” IS A FLAT JADE DISC WITH A CIRCULAR HOLE IN CENTER. Chinese WARRING STATES Style Calcified JADE Jadeite Nephrite BI Pi DISC Superb Carving 5 DRAGONS. Great form, beautifully precision carved. The previous owner bought it in the 60s/70s in China. The grains or dots on Bi / Pi ring are precise and uniform. Who ever carved this was a well accomplished carver, the symmetry is pleasing and incredible, a mark of a master. I have no other information to go on other than the piece itself. It has a very high pitched sound like a high fire porcelain when tapped.
