This is an Antique Tang dynasty (600-900 circa) Terracotta Bank with Black Enamel Glaze.. 10″ high x 7″ widest, Weighing in at 4 lbs. The Jar Features 1 firing Dragon chasing a pearl , and has 5 claws , The dragon symbol on this piece represents protection of the family & the wealth and would of been made for only the higher class including Emperors priests ect. The lower class were allowed 3-4 claws only! The lid does not come off and has a slit opening for Deposits. NOTE : Glaze was tested positive for lead and should’t be exposed to heavy lights or lamps. CONDITION : the back of the handle on top (tip) was chipped off a bit but not noticeable from the front and also the jar appears to have been repaired during the same period to fill in the cracks using the same black glaze but the bank does not seem to of been Broken open or pieced together. ” tip of jar ” can be re-painted if you wish.
