DESCRIPTION Very large and finely detailed antique Chinese kesi tapestry panel most likely from a 19th century robe. More recently backed with linen and then cotton, the panel is slightly wider at the bottom and is not truly rectangular but slightly trapezoidal (please see measurements). CONDITION The condition of the panel is very good with some signs of wear and age There are some scattered losses to the metallic embroidery within the black border. The largest area can be seen in photo 9. There are some small spots of tearing or extened opening at the slits in between colors. These can be found on close inspection. SIZE The width of the tapestry panel at the top measures 65 3/4 and the width at the bottom measures 67 3/4. The height of the tapestry is 37. The linen backing extends between 6-8 beyond the edge of the tapestry.
