I know enough to know that this is a very nice robe. I do not know if this is an original vintage Priest’s robe or a version made for Chinese opera. Whatever it is it is spectacular. Would make a fantastic wall hanging. If it was made for the stage it was done extremely well. You expect something made for the stage to be showy from far away without all the detail–but this has wonderful detail and incredible embroidery. Lined in a loose weave stiff fabric that gives it great body. Embroidered with dragons chasing the flaming pearl and all sorts of auspicious symbols. There are chickens, butterflies, a string of pearls, fans, a sword and other embroidered motifs. Measures 54 inches from the end of one sleeve to the end of the other and 41 inches from shoulder to bottom. Has a few stitches at each side below where you would put your arms.
