A beautiful antique Chinese large ink stone carved from’Wet’ slate and depicting a dragon in clouds beneath which is an inset green stone representing the dragon’s pearl. Probably for a scholar’s desk. This comes from a very good UK collection of ink-stones (collector’s sticker to side) and probably dates to the late 1700s Qianlong Period or early 1800s. Wonderful collector’s piece. The piece is 19.3 cm long including base (approx 7½).
