I know enough to know that this is a very nice robe. I do not know if this is an original vintage Priest’s robe or a version made for Chinese opera. Whatever it is it is spectacular. Would make a fantastic wall hanging. If it was made for the stage it was done extremely well. You expect something made for the stage to be showy from far away without all the detail–but this has wonderful detail and incredible embroidery. Lined in a loose weave stiff fabric that gives it great body. Embroidered with dragons chasing the flaming pearl and all sorts of auspicious symbols. There are chickens, butterflies, a string of pearls, fans, a sword and other embroidered motifs. Measures 54 inches from the end of one sleeve to the end of the other and 41 inches from shoulder to bottom. Has a few stitches at each side below where you would put your arms. Chinese Circa 1870 Qing Dynasty Carved Rosewood Dragon & Lion Foo Dogs Armchair

Dragon and Lion Foo dog throne armchair. A really rare an expertly hand carved piece, the detail is never ending and of the highest standard, there are many variations of these chairs, they were being made up until the 1950s but by that time they were much simpler without the level of detail that this chair has, this is one of the very early ones from around 1900. This one is an all singing all dancing fully head to toe carved piece, it looks absolutely stunning from every angle and is actually quite comfortable to sit in. The condition is very good, we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, the timber has a nice used patina, there are some old iron supports that have been secured inside the base. CHINESE EXPORT SILVER PURSE c1890 BATTLING DRAGONS- ELDERS & CHILD A fine and rare late 19th century Chinese export silver change purse. The cover with three elders in long robe with child, the center figure possibly a priest. Above, spread wing bat holding a lantern? , clouds rolling along full moon. Opposite side dragons battling amidst clouds, one spewing fire stream. Chain and ring for travel. Interior with liner, possibly later. No visible hallmarks, possibly signed under interior liner. We did not tear back to inspect. We guarantee solid silver, not silver plate. And of the region and age listed. In very fine condition. Retains original detail, including most all of the facial detail. Chain appears original, interior lining may not be. The very rare late 19th century Chinese export silver change purse is 3 1/4.
