Chinese Naval Badge Kuomintang Emblem Flanking Dragons Over Anchor In Box. We are unable to read the Chinese on the back or the box and used several translation apps with mixed results. Most common occurrences in order were. Class Year 17 school officer Junhai sea remembrance. The writing on the box appears to say Sincerely Love. So, we are making an assumption based on the material of the screw backs, the style of the Kuomintang emblem, the double dragons and the anchor that this may be a 1917 graduation badge from a naval school or training program of some kind in its presentation box. For sale is a Late 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty Rank Badge Style Textile with satin and silk threading with a Gold Threaded 4 claw Dragon central figure. The 5 claw dragon was worn by Imperial Chinese figures. We are unsure if this is a textile for display or an official rank badge. We believe it to be a Qing dynasty display textile. It is Gallery framed and matted for a beautiful display. Have not removed it from the frame for examination. Framed – 21 x 18 1/2. Textile (visible) – 10 1/2 x 6. Depicting a ferocious front-facing, five-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl in gold thread, surrounded by auspicious clouds, bats, flaming coin, endless knot with a fish and other motifs, all above three pointed mountains and peonies raised from crashing waves reserved on a pale orange ground, the border adorned with stylised flowers and ruyi scepter with ribbon reserved on a black ground, with wooden frames. Gorgeous antique Chinese dragon robe decorated with large dragon rank badge on the back surrounded by many beautiful gold metallic dragons and silk flowers. The detailing is incredible and very attractive. I believe the robe to be late Qing Dynasty. There is signs of natural aging with minor thread loss and some loose threads. The robe measures app. 64 1/2 inches sleeve to sleeve and 34 1/2 inches long. Would look amazing framed and hanging. China robe, Qing Dynasty, approx. 18th to early 19th C. A very rare ceremonial outer garment of a high official, as it holds five clawed dragons. It is entirely and very elaborately woven in real gold gilt threads on large dragons above ocean waves and rocks, in the chest area. On the shoulders likewise, and smaller renditions on the seams of the short sleeves. The dominant pattern consists of colourful clouds, which have the form of ruyi heads of the dignity sceptre. Fluttering between them are bats; as well as flowers and objects from the Babao (the “eight precious things”). On the back, the depiction is the same as on the front. Original blue silk lining on the inside. Original set of 4 buttons has no damage, this high quality and expensive stone with gold gilt buttons are the first time I have ever seem on a robe. Please note apparently this beautiful robe was stole by a person named Shawn Mei located at 15164 Dedeaux Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503. And that will be the place to pick it up if you want this robe.
