This Chinese or Japanese style carved wood sellette is attributed to the Maison des Bambous, company owned by. Nice large dragon with a sinuous body make up the central part of this statue. The body is elaborately carved by a fine hand as is evident in the photos. Has common features of Maison des Bambous Co. Including the cigar or vase holder top. Perret and Vibert’s Maison des Bambous was set up in 1872 at number 33 rue du Quatre-Septembre. Specialized in the production of small furniture and seats made out of bamboo and wicker, they quickly turned towards the production of Japanese and Chinese inspired carved wood furniture. Around 1910, they opened a branch at 170, boulevard. And kept it open until 1994, the year that Maison des Bambous permanently closed. Dimensions- 27.5 Tall. Antique 19th C Chinese Carved Mahogany Dragon Chair-SUPER COOL! Chinese carved hardwood armchair which dates from the 19th century. It has a dramatic dragon design with a dragon carved back over a serpentine seat. The chair, flanked by outswept dragon carved arms, is raised on carved cabriole legs. The arm supports culminate in dragon heads with the thunderstorm pearl in their mouths. All exposed surfaces are beautifully carved. The legs of the chair are carved into dragon head descending down into a snail like serpentine coiled toe. Right arm slightly shifts slightly when pushed. There looks to be a nail missing on the underside of the chair. There’s another nail that is securely in place and supports most of the arm. Intricate carved detailing all over. Wear as shown in pictures… There is some signs of wear and tear as this is a extremely old piece. No visible structural cracks in the wood however and most of the so-called damage would be described as superficial. No damage other than normal wear from household use. Overall considering age and use, this chair is in very good condition. It came from a family estate and was in the family for many many generations. The throne stands 57″ tall and 32″ wide 24″ deep highly detailed with Chinese mythical dragons and figures, the love seat sofa stands 48″ tall 52″ wide and 24″ deep also highly detailed. THERE ARE A FEW SMALL AREAS OF FINISH LOSS. A large and arresting, early 20th century Chinese dragon lamp. This wonderful, authentic piece is hand carved from mahogany and is beautifully detailed. The patina is fantastic. Perfect with or without a shade of your choice. Stylish three core twisted brown braided flex and antiqued bronze finish bulb holder (large bayonet fitting). A beautiful and unusual piece. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. I have the matching floor standing lamp listed under my other items. This pair are in lovely restored condition throughout, they have been cleaned waxed and polished, fully rewired with new cables, inline switches and plugs. Theres a small piece of timber missing at the bottom of one, otherwise they are in fine order throughout.
