This Chinese or Japanese style carved wood sellette is attributed to the Maison des Bambous, company owned by. Nice large dragon with a sinuous body make up the central part of this statue. The body is elaborately carved by a fine hand as is evident in the photos. Has common features of Maison des Bambous Co. Including the cigar or vase holder top. Perret and Vibert’s Maison des Bambous was set up in 1872 at number 33 rue du Quatre-Septembre. Specialized in the production of small furniture and seats made out of bamboo and wicker, they quickly turned towards the production of Japanese and Chinese inspired carved wood furniture. Around 1910, they opened a branch at 170, boulevard. And kept it open until 1994, the year that Maison des Bambous permanently closed. Dimensions- 27.5 Tall.
