Large Chinese silver mug, ca 1880. Cylindrical bowl with bellied and beaded dragon-encircled bottom. Pastoral frieze with farmers tilling soil and water buffalo pulling plow. In background buildings and trees. Sweet scenes of country life that contrast with the scary, scaly dragon forming s-scroll handle that grips the bowl with talons. A horned voyeuristic beast that peers over the rim with gaping, fanged jaws. Chinese marks and initials WF for Wing Fat in Canton. Overall dimensions: H 7 x W 7 3/8 x D 4 1/4 in.
