CHINESE EXPORT SILVER DRAGON KETTLE & STAND c1890 SIGNED – 39 OUNCES This is a beautifully hand crafted late 19th century Chinese export silver dragon tea kettle on matching stand with original burner. From the well listed shop of Hung Chong, working in both Canton & Shanghai. Known primarily for floral decorated silver wares, far less for dragon theme tea wares such as this. This c1890 Chinese export silver dragon tea kettle on. Matching stand is 13 1/2 inches tall. And the complete set weighs 39 standard ounces. Hallmarked as shown HungChong & series of characters. Likely for the actual silversmith, or town. In very, very fine condition. Tea kettle interior clean as if little or never used. Retains original hand carved detail. It stands horizontally on four clawed feet with its tail curved into a spiral. This rare and unusual spoon was made by the silversmith Hung Chong of Shanghai between 1860 and 1930 and remains in excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear (see condition description). Good maker’s mark to the back of the bowl, and a simply unique and spectacular piece of silver for the lucky winner! Length: 8 3/4in (22.2cm). See my listings for a similar spoon by Luen Wo. Antique Chinese export sterling silver: small footed round dish. With fine quality engraved detail of two full bodied dragons. Qing dynasty, second half of 19th century, China. Base is hallmarked a set of characters mark and initials: HC (Hung Chong). Solid silver, NOT plated. Diameter: 11.2 cm. Weight: 103.9 grams. Condition: very good, no repairs, no dents nor dings.
