Antique Chinese Necklace with silver alloy (sterling silver was not used at this time) pendant of a Dragon Horse or “Longma”, which could also symbolize an eminent person, or a vigorous person in old age. The dragon horse has many mythological characteristics. The dragon head and dragon scales are seen on this horse body. The beads are also made of silver alloy. The blue beads are hand carved and hand polished, and we do not know what kind of beads these are. Measurements: The total overall length of the necklace is approximately 27. The pendant itself measures approximately 2 3/8″h x 2.75″w x 1/4depth (as the pendant is double sided). Each of the hand carved blue beads are graduated from approximately 14mm diameter next to the pendant, down to 9mm at the hook closure endings. The silver alloy cylindrical stamped beads are approximately 12mm length x 9mm diameter. The total length of the beautiful hook clasp is approximately 1.5. Total Weight of Necklace: 2.8 ounces. Condition: This beautiful antique necklace is in very good condition. There may have been full gilt on the dragon horse originally, but most of the gilt has worn off. Who doesn’t love a dragon horse.
