Gorgeous Antique Black Silk Embroidery Chinese Robe Dragons Bats Flaming Pearls. I know enough to know that this is a very nice robe. The embroidery is done with a metal thread that has tarnished. Leads me to think the thread is silver because of the color of the tarnishing but I could be wrong and will leave that to an expert. Black silk inside and out. The only issue I can find anywhere are two small holes in the lining near the neck. All of the embroidery is done in metal threads in a couching technique. There are dragons, waves, flaming pearls, bats, clouds and other Buddhist symbols embroidered on it. I took photos outdoors and there is some glare on the lens. The black silk fabric is absolutely even in color and solid black with no variation like it might appear in some of the photos. The first two photos are a better representative of the color since the sun was at my back. It’s in beautiful condition. Measures 50 inches from the end of one sleeve to the end of the other, 23 inches underarm to underarm and 40 inches from shoulder to bottom. Please ask questions before purchasing as this item is not returnable. This coat is in excellent condition. But with all the embroidery involved I’m sure you might find a loose thread or two.
