They are complete with scales and shiny marcasites that run down them. The fold over clasp incorporates the scale detail and more marcasites, and gives the watch a uniform appearance. The case for the piece was replaced at one time in the last 20-30 years, and is in the Art Deco Style. All of the pieces are strung together with Sterling Silver rods, and the underside of the piece is smooth for comfortable wear.
