An expertly hand-carved chair, the detail is never ending and of the highest standard, there are many variations of these chairs that were being made up until the 1950s but by that time, they were much simpler, without the level of detail that this chair has. This is one of the very early ones from circa 1870. This is a fully carved piece, from head to toe. It looks absolutely stunning from every angle and is actually quite comfortable to sit in. The condition is used, however, in exceptional condition and with a stunning period vintage patina. You never find these with so little wear and yet so much character. The vintage patina adds to the look and feel and structurally it is near perfect. Aside from cleaning the chair, using a touch of furniture polish, there has “not” been any restoration done on this chair “what so ever”. It is, in its entirety, exactly as it was when it was made.
