Antique 19th Century Chinese court robe in blue silk with gold metal embroidery. This is a striking robe, with the contrast of the vibrant gold thread against the rich cobalt blue fabric. This is an Imperial Dragon, and the work is beautifully done encompassing many of the elements important to Chinese culture, faith and folklore. It is a mid to late 19th century garment and would have been worn at a ceremony or cultural event by a person of wealth and social status. The robe measures approximately 54″ from shoulder to hem and approximately 27″ from armpit to armpit. Overall, it is in very good condition with a few minor issues in accordance with it’s age. The most notable flaws are one very tiny hole on the back approx 4 from the hemline and some loose threads on sleeves and at one shoulder. Very slight fading on sleeves. No lowball offers please.
