ANTIQUE CHINESE QING IMPERIAL COURT DRAGON ROBE SILK. This is a very rare Qing imperial and fantastic embroidered detail to both sides. Measuring from top 30 long. This piece is in all original condition. As to be expected age related wear and marks in places. Slight fraying to ends of sleeves in places. Some of the stitching to top embroidered piece around neck line is loose. There is fading in places – lining and end of the sleeves. All as evidenced in the pictures. One of a kind Work of Art! Museum Quality embroidery Rare Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Court Summer Gauze 5 Claw Dragon Robe mid 19th century Pure Silk The embroidery is Incredible! Single thread Silk Satin Floss all over embroidery Masterfully embroidered and a PERFECT work of art! Done by a true Master! Rare Museum Quality Piece Color looks to be natural dyes and no aniline dyes and because of this I believe this is an older robe — from the 1850s Difficult to photograph because the woven gauze is over a cotton or linen lining (the lining is indigo light blue) CONDITION: by my estimations this robe is 170+ years old the silk is soft and pliable. No rot or decay coloring is mellow natural dyes this was PRE OWNED and WORN for the Court very light soiling no stains and no dye bleed the collar has some of the weaving coming apart as seen in picture 11 but no missing fabric or threads a few loose threads. 1 tiny mite bite seen in photo 12 about the size of the tip of a pencil no buttons and pulls over the top this is STILL Wearable! In general my pictures reflect and try to reproduce everything, including color, as accurately as possible. Item Type: Chinese Jade Vase Item Description: A very fine jade vase with foo dogs, lions and carved rings. Lovely and rare celadon color with black accents. Marcel Gibrat (Pictured working on a Greek Kylyx in the 1970s), my grandfather, was a Restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan and later owned a Madison Avenue Restoration Studio and Art Gallery one block from the Guggenheim Museum. From the 1960s to 1990s. Marcel was undoubtedly a genius and was, as far as I know, the only Restorer for the Met without a PhD. In fact he had a sixth grade education. He was also a talented painter. Im Max Lewin the curator of what remains of Marcels extensive art collection, comprising ancient, tribal, Asian and European art. I have grown up around art and. I worked with Marcel summers and in college. Marcel was an unquestioned expert in antiquities and all items in the collection from the ancient world are guaranteed to be authentic. Marcel also had a particular affinity for African tribal art, and while dating such items is problematic, he absolutely had impeccable taste. Some of his opinions on provenance of tribal items have been challenged. There are also Asian items of various quality, and many fine and genuine items from primitive cultures including relatively contemporary (a few hundred years old) and both neolithic and upper paleolithic items. CHINESE EXPORT SILVER DRAGON GOBLET c1890 SIGNED – # 4 OF 6 IN COLLECTION A beautifully crafted late 19th century Chinese export silver dragons battling for sacred pearl wine goblet. The shallow circular bowl with richly detailed applied four claw Chinese dragons battling for the sacred pearl, here in raised orb form. Their bodies comprised of diamond or facet cut scales which shimmer in the natural light. Upper rim and base edge with hand engraved floating flower head on tiny pebbled borders. The base with third dragon, lacking the pearl this dragons encircles the stem, chasing its own tail. This late 19th century Chinese export silver battling dragons goblet is 5 inches tall. And weighs bit over 3 standard ounces. Signed in a very long series of Chinese characters. Rich silver patina throughout.
