Presented is a fine Chinese Export solid silver card tankard, signed by the maker c. The body has a well detailed chased scene with various FIGURES, HORSES, BUILDINGS, FLOWERS and FOLIAGE. There is a central shield cartouche (never monogramed). The handle is as a full bodied dragon. The interior has a deep pure gold lining. The underside is signed by the maker c. For your consideration we have here a very large Chinese carved and pierced mother of pearl shell along with its original hardwood stand. This is a very large shell having a width of 10″ x Height of 8″ and measures about 9-1/2 on its hardwood stand. The subject matter depicts a large dragon to one side facing a phoenix in flight to the other with the flaming pearl of wisdom inbetween with the background densely worked in a cloud design showing nice piercing and carving having a wonderful surface luster. The reverse is well polished and is unadorned and the bottom has been fitted to be accepted by the custom original carved hardwood stand both pieces being in perfect undamaged condition. Width 10″ x Height 8″ X Height on Stand 9-1/2. Both the shell and stand are in perfectly kept condition having no chips, cracks, repairs or restrorations.
