Beautiful Antique Chinese Porcelain Moonflask Vase featuring Imperial Dragon painted in radiant cobalt blue over white background marked with Quianlong period stamp. Extremely skilfully potted with a broad, gently compressed, rounded body rising to a waisted neck and lipped rim, the neck flanked by a pair of chilong form handles, exquisitely and richly painted in shades of radiant cobalt blue with a five-clawed dragon, its limbs outstretched and soaring sinuously amidst flaming wisps and stylised clouds. The neck and the base feature a bat in the clouds. In form and decoration, this moonflask draws inspiration from early Ming dynasty prototypes, a period traditionally recognized as among the greatest for the production of Imperial blue and white porcelain. Ming dynasty moonflasks began to be copied on a large scale in the later periods, mainly in the 17-18th centuries. Backstamped to the bottom with a square Quianlong period stamp painted in blue.
