This is a Beautiful Antique Silk Chinese Jacket from the late 1800’s – early 1900’s! LABEL: none Fabric is a light to medium-weight silk… Jacket is embroidered with beautiful rainbow of colours. The jacket is lined with a light-weight silk… Design: abbreviated stand-up collar… Black satin trim along collar, down center front, and along hemline… 3/4 length wide sleeves… Satin knot frog closure down center front. The embroidery is just beautiful and consists of flowers, some kind of winged insect or bird, people resting near a fence amongst flowers, and the most impressive along the hemline of waves and dragons. The structure is sound and the colour of the embroidery is superb. There is storage soiling and yellowing throughout. The lining shows storage yellowing-soiling as well. See detailed photos for examples. The sleeve cuffs show significant yellowing and some brown spots -see photos. There is a hole measuring 3/8 in diameter at corner-top of the bottom, right medallion on the back of the jacket -see photo. There is a thin spot on the top of the left shoulder -see photo. There are minor almost-thin areas at the top of the right shoulder. There is a separation at the seam of the armpit – measuring 1/2 in length. Such an amazing piece of textile history! MEASUREMETNS: Chest: 22″ across Length: 40″ Sleeve Inseam: 11.5. This is against the law. All sales are final.
