The guards have a wonderful deepest carved with people and dragons. It has 22 sticks connected with a little metal button. The three central sticks pierced have an oval cartouche without monogram. Totally Open 11 7/8 30 cms. Stick 7 1/4 18,5 cms. The fan open and close appropriately. The sticks and guards are curved. This don´t detract the beauty of this collectible hand fan. Antique Chinese 19th Century Silver-thread Dragon Embroidery Altar Cloth

Dating from the 19. Century, this vibrant Chinese red ground embroidered Altar Cloth displays two large and dynamic 4 toed Dragons (four toes denote a commission by a noble family). Between a central Sun motif, the dragons face each other. Above the two dragons, is a long panel that features 5 cavorting little dragons and tigers in unique individual poses, interspersed with Chinese characters; all are embroidered in heavy silver thread. Condition is generally excellent, without fading (photos only show light shadow) nor is there major damage, except for some small glass mirrors which are loose, and some are missing, as can be seen in the photographs. This interesting Dragon textile measures 2m 10cm wide and weighs 800g, without packaging. Qing Dynasty 18th Century Amber-Glaze Dragon Phoenix Bottle Vase

Parade Antiques and Collectables. Qing Dynasty 18th Century Amber-Glaze Dragon Phoenix Bottle Vase. A highly unusual bottle vase, decorated with a dragon and phoenix, made at the Jingdezhen kilns during the late 18th century. The vase depicts an Imperial five-clawed Dragon and phoenix (Fenghuang) contesting a flaming pearl. The dragon signifies the emperor, whilst the phoenix corresponds to the empress. The vase is a perhaps a reference to marital unity. The vase has been painted with delicate grisaille enamels on a monochrome background of amber yellow. The unusual brownish quality of the glaze suggests that it came about as a mistake or a consequence of adding too much iron oxide to the mix. The higher the quantity of ferric oxide (iron red), the darker the glaze becomes. At quantities of 4-5%, the glaze starts to take on a brown hue. Curiously the glaze is dispersed with crystalline green clouds, we believe this is a consequence of the copper oxides separating in the firing process. The base of the vase has been glazed with white, and painted clumsily with two blue concentric rings. The condition of the vase is good, though there are a few surface scratches to the glaze. The various imperfections and blemishes to the glaze are no doubt a consequence of being glazed on stoneware instead of flawless white porcelain. Size: 32.5 x 24cm Weight: 3535g.
