Very Rare Circa 1900 Hand Carved Chinese Export Sideboard Dragons & Serpents

There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. This cabinet is part of a suite, I have the matching dining table, set of six chairs and one more single chair. This is one of the most extensively carved pieces I have ever seen, every square inch of it is hand carved, there are dragons, floral detailing, Chinese symbols serpent detailing. It really is a tour de force and considered as art furniture. The cabinet comes in three pieces, the base and top are two separate pieces and the very top plinth comes off as well for ease of transport. The base unit has two large cupboards, a kennel section and a single drawer, the top has two large drop front glazed doors which reveal a space which looks to be designed for apothecary type storage, for modern use I imagine it would be ideally suited as a drinks cabinet or for storing dinner services. We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it is well over 100 years old so has a genuine and very desirable age relevant patina. Height:- base alone 92.5cm, top alone 102cm total 194.5cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. CHINESE EXPORT SILVER PURSE c1890 BATTLING DRAGONS – ELDERS & CHILD A fine and rare late 19th century Chinese export silver change purse. The cover with three elders in long robe with child, the center figure possibly a priest. Above, spread wing bat holding a lantern? , clouds rolling along full moon. Opposite side dragons battling amidst clouds, one spewing fire stream. Chain and ring for travel. Interior with liner, possibly later. No visible hallmarks, possibly signed under interior liner. We did not tear back to inspect. We guarantee solid silver, not silver plate. And of the region and age listed. In very fine condition. Retains original detail, including most all of the facial detail. Chain appears original, interior lining may not be. The very rare late 19th century Chinese export silver. Antique late-19th Century Chinese export solid silver mug, of tapering form, the sides are beautifully decorated in relief with a scene of a Chinese village, very crisp and detailed, centering a vacant shaped cartouche. The handle is beautifully modelled like a dragon. The base is Hallmarked Chinese Export silver (900+ silver standard), Maker’s mark LW for Luen Wo, A very important retail silversmith based in Shanghai, he also traded in jewellery, diamonds and embroideries. His artworks show a very high quality that only equals the standards of Wang Hing, in Canton. ANTIQUE 19thC CHINESE EXPORT SOLID SILVER DRAGON MUG, LUEN WO c. Luen Wo was very productive and relied on a large number of designers and artisans, such as Ning Zhao Ji. His items generally bear the mark with his full name or the initials LW and the mark of the artisan who realised the piece. The firm mainly produced items in the traditional Chinese style, featuring classical motifs such as bamboo leaves, prunus blossoms, chrysanthemums and dragons but, especially after 1880, he is recorded as having also made Peranakan-style items. CHINESE EXPORT SILVER DRAGON TEA KETTLE & STAND c1890 SIGNED – 42 OUNCES A very large and fine, late 19th century Chinese export silver dragon in streaming flames tea kettle, on matching hallmarked stand, retaining the original burner. From the rarely observed work shop of Cheong Shin. The dragon kettle in tapering oval form. Beautifully hand carved four claw Chinese dragon covers the entire surface. Carved in extremely high relief from surface. Set amidst streaming flames. With long tendrils flaring backward. The dragon’s mouth is opened unusually wide, with the upper furry “lip” carved outward at an angle from the surface, most unusual design feature. Hinged cover retains the original gnarled bamboo finial and original hand cut fastener below. Set above both applied and engraved bamboo displays. Overhead swing handle and spout in notched bamboo form. Kettle atop matching, fully hallmarked crossed bamboo shoot stand, with center ring supporting the well placed burner with hinged dome cover. Chinese Export Silver Filigree Card case with dragon, squirrel Flowers with blue & green enamel. Beautifully crafted Chinese silver filigree card case with what i believe to be a dragon, squirrel & flowers with enamel border. It weighs approximatley 52.2 grams of silver. The case is two pieced, attachment is bent and minor wear throughout. Description – Chinese export solid silver filigree card case with nicely detailed flowers, squirrel, dragon, and fish. It is unsigned and un-monogrammed. To 3rd quarter of the 19th Century. Size – Approximately 4 inches by 2 1/2 inches by 1/2 inch. Condition – Age appropriate, tarnish, some bending on dragon/snake, and one side under squirrel missing piece. Small piece of dragon head is loose, but overall in good condition.
