VERY OLD ANTIQUE CHINESE SILK SATIN AND FABRIC SKIRT TERRIFIC EXAMPLE OF HIGH CRAFTSMANSHIP AND QUALITY EMBROIDERY SKILLS. OVERALL THE CONDITION IS VERY GOOD CONSIDERING AGE AND USE. THOUGHT TO BE FROM THE LATE QING – 1800’S SATIN BACKGROUND IS CREAM WITH MULTI COLORED FLOWERS, BUTTERFLIES, DRAGONS AND TREES AND OTHER FOLIAGE EMBROIDERED THROUGHOUT THE PANELS. TRIMMED IN BLACK SATIN WITH PRINTED GOLD RIBBON TRIM ON TOP OF THAT. THE SKIRT IS LINED IN A YELLOW, FADED FABRIC THAT APPEARS TO BE SATIN AS WELL. THE WAISTBAND IS A HIGH QUALITY LINEN. AND IS WATER STAINED AND NEEDS CLEANING. ONE PANEL APPEARS TO HAVE SOME SORT OF FUR SEWN IN A SEAM IN A STRIP FOR ABOUT THIRTEEN INCHES. THE SKIRT IS APPROX. 39 INCHES LONG AND APPROX. 44 INCHES WIDE ACROSS TOP OF THE WAISTBAND. SKIRT IS PLEATED SO ITS DIFFICULT TO KNOW HOW TO MEASURE. THESE MEASUREMENTS ARE APPROXIMATE. THERE ARE NO RIPS OR TEARS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AN INCH OR TWO OF LOOSE BLACK TRIM. COULD BE EASILY MENDED. THE WHOLE PIECE NEEDS A THOROUGH CLEANING. THERE IS ONE BLUEISH DISCOLORATION THAT I’VE TRIED TO CAPTURE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH. THIS PIECE, ALONG WITH THE OTHER ASIAN TEXTILES I’VE RECENTLY LISTED, CAME FROM THE FAMILY OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THEIR GRANDFATHER HAD LIVED IN CHINA AS A BOY AND BROUGHT THESE PIECES BACK WITH HIM TO STORE AWAY UNTIL RECENTLY. MOST OF THE PIECES ARE KNOWN TO BE WELL OVER ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD. Vintage Antique Chinese Purse Embroidered Dragons Flowers on Silk. This purse has an elaborate design of dragons and flowers all embroidered onto a delicate silk background. Condition is excellent and even the lining has no rips, stains, or tears. There are slightly darkened marks on one side and if you look closely at the second picture you’ll see that at the bottom of the purse. There are a few very slight pulls. Frame is undamaged and opens and closes as it should but there is some discolouration under the latch. The bag alone without the handles or tassels measure about 8 by 7 inches 20 by 18 cm. It dates to the late 19th century or earlier and is in overall excellent condition with no cracks or repairs. There are two chips in the body of the vase, some rubbing to the gold, some minor losses to the enamel decoration, light glaze and surface scratches and scuffing here and there, and other light signs of wear consistent with age.
