One hundred years of fashion & accesories. Antique Chinese Longpao Dragon Robe Coat Woven Gold Blue Silk Brocade. This antique Chinese Longpao dragon robe coat woven gold and blue silk brocade dates from 1910, during the end of the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a blue and golden yellow color silk weave brocade fabric, with highly detailed woven designs of dragons, pearls, bats, butterflies, crane birds, flowers, smoke clouds, swastika characters for longevity, waves of water along the bottom hem and sleeve cuffs, in addition to other auspicious symbols, precious objects and the Eight Immortals attributes. There are a total of 8 front and side facing five clawed dragons. This magnificent Manchu surcoat style imperial court robe Longpao coat is loose fitting, a long floor length, with a front opening silk knotted button toggle closure, long full sleeves, side skirt slits and is fully lined in a blue silk fabric. There are colorful silk damask weave brocade ribbon trim around the collar and blue silk, gold couching embroidered sleeve band cuffs. Inside is an old “Made in China” tag and rice paper calligraphy Chinese characters ink stamped label (see close-ups). The robe measures 48 inches long, with a 52 inch chest, 52 inch waist and 12 inch wide sleeve cuffs. Antique Chinese 19th C Qing Gold Embroidered Silk Dragon Panel, Chaofu Skirt
To be notified of our future auctions! To visit our website for more inventory. Chaofu Dragon Panel with Gold Threads. 19th century Late Qing Dynasty Silk and gold-foiled threads Width: 127 cm / 50 in Length: 62.5 cm / 24.6 in From a Pennsylvania estate A large 127 x 62.5 cm silk panel created from fabric originally intended for a chaofu court robe. The five-clawed dragons were created entirely from silk threads covered with gold foil, which couldn’t be sewn through the fabric, so they were instead tacked down via a technique called’couching’. The panel itself features five dragon medallion roundels, framed above and below by additional dragons hovering above roaring sea waves crashing against rocks, interspersed with auspicious Buddhist symbols. The chaofu , also known as an’audience’ robe, was the most formal type of court dress at the Qing court. These blue-black robes were worn by Qing nobles, high-ranking civil and military officials, and imperial guards. Condition: Very excellent antique condition. The front fabric is sturdy and complete, with no staining and no variations in colors. There are some minor cases of loose threads, and the blue silk backing to the reserve shows some stains. But overall, this panel is in amazing condition for an antique textile. Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition report. We guarantee our items to be authentic and correctly dated. We will gladly answer all questions and concerns. Specializing in Fine Antique Vintage Jewelry & Collectibles. 1920 Deco 14k Gold Chinese Dragon Phoenix Repousse Bracelet! These prices come from GIA recognized Gem Guide , THE wholesale price guide for dealers. These values do not dictate what a piece is worth. This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials. The safety clasp on the side of the bracelet is broken and currently does not function. The bracelet is secure without it. This beautiful bracelet comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. Dragon’s and Phoenix’s are two of the most powerful Chinese celestial animals and within their right also represent Yin & Yang! The Phoenix is represented as Yin, the female while the dragon is represented as Yang, the male. This celestial couple is a symbol of everlasting love and together are the symbol of ultimate martial happiness. Through Yin & Yang the celestial couple balances each other out perfectly and represent that a man and a spouse will stay together forever through thick and thin and that love and passion will last until the end. The gold work in this piece would of been entirely hand carved by a team of talented Chinese gold smiths out of 14k rose gold! The design runs along the entire length of the bracelet and features a striking Dragon & Phoenix scene which as you read above, has a lot of meaning in Chinese history. The scene is carved out from the back of the gold work using a Repousse style and features a dragon on one side of the bracelet, and a phoenix on the other! The designs are beautifully detailed with ornate etchings over the top of the repousse designs that both the dragon and the phoenix’s features beautifully. The designs even feature subtle hints of yellow throughout that give the carvings a gorgeous contrast between rose and yellow gold! The bangle bracelet features an inside circumference that measures 7.5 and is finished off with a push in clasp that works perfectly. Please view the pictures one last time and truly appreciate the amount of skill and effort put into making this piece. Zoom in on the details, can you image carving out all of these obscure and fascinating details by hand? It would have taken months – this piece is absolutely incredible! Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates. Unfortunately most of the jewelry from this time period has been lost or melted down over the years, please don’t miss your chance to own this special piece of history! Main Stone Carat Weight/Color/Clarity. Accent Stone Carat Weight/Color/Clarity. Sizable by Your Local Jeweler. Due to the age of some of these pieces some items will not be stamped. The National Stamping Act was not enacted until 1906, before 1906 jewelry was not legally required to have a karat mark. This is one way to date items prior to the Art Nouveau time period. All of our jewelry is verified and guaranteed though an x-ray florescent-spectrometer test. This test conducts and determines the exact alloy content within the metal without damaging the piece like scratch and acid testing. Please be aware if you take an item to be tested by a jeweler, jewelers use scratch testing and electronic testing. These methods are only accurate 50% of the time, these are cheap, ineffective, and damaging ways to test to gold purity of an item. If you plan to take your item to a jeweler please visit one with a specialized field in estate jewelry.
