The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. The Sapphire gem stones in this ring are beautifully round cut and show case stunning facets that refelct light beautifully off of their surface. The Sapphire gem stones are expertly placed inside of the dragon’s mouths, one of the sapphires is a light blue color while the other is a lovely pink color. Each sapphire show cases an absolutely gorgeous clarity that is mesmerizing to look into, and is in great condition! The Jade gem stones in this piece are beautifully rounded and feature a stunningly smooth polished surface. The Jade gems are placed in the eyes of the two fierce dragons and feature an absolutely stunning solid green color. The ring itself is completely hand crafted out of solid 14k yellow gold and features a stunning double dragon design! The dragons are beautifully carved out of yellow gold and feature a textured surface along the band that acts as their body’s and meet with each other at the top of the band! The heads of the dragons are incredibly detailed with whiskers, sharp teeth, eyes, nose, and textured surfaces throughout that make them look realistic and incredibly ferocious! This beautiful ring would have taken months for a talented Chinese gold smith to carve out completely by hand.
