The upper section has an openwork medallion carved with a hornless dragon, the center section has openworks carvings of a Qilin, and LingZhi fungus, while the lower part has a brightening-the-feet opening, a scrolling tendril design in relief, and beading. The front rail of the seat is decorated on the front with a pair of hornless dragons. Bronze protective mounts encase the joints. Folding chairs developed as a result of the addition of a curved rest to the high folding stools of the Southern and Norther Dynasties period, and their basic structure was already established in the Song Dynasty.
