Late Qing Export Silver Footed Plate (LQS091501). 19th century Late Qing Dynasty Solid silver, purity of at least. 925 Diameter: 22.5 cm / 8.85 in Height: 3.7 cm Weight: 332 grams From a Porto, Portugal private collection An impressively crafted 19th century late Qing Chinese export silver footed plate, engraved in the center with a confident rendering of a sinuous dragon, and bordered with a marvelous pierced/reticulated cavetto featuring dragons amongst clouds. The silver workmanship is virtuosic in its attention to detail– even the scales of the dragon are shown in crisp relief. The back is marked a “changtai” maker’s mark. Condition: Generally good antique condition. Some age-related surface wear and scratches (especially at the back). The plate front has a 1 cm indented scratch. There are no repairs or structural damage. Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition report. We guarantee our items to be authentic and correctly dated. The dish is stunningly painted in famille rose enamels with a central motif of a front-facing five clawed red Dragon with green eyes. The Dragon is surrounded by a number of delicate butterflies, all concealed with an outer boarder of scrolling vines flowers and gourds with four. Various motifs depicting sacred objects and auspicious fruits and flowers. A rare chance to acquire such a beautiful and impressive imperial piece of Chinese porcelain. Please see all Photos. RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE DAOGUANG MARK + PERIOD BLUE RED DRAGON DISH PLATE

Chamberlain Antiques LLC is back once again with a wonderful offering of Asian antiques and works of art. This week we will be offering a large array of porcelain, bronze, jade, silver, and other works of art. There are many museum quality examples included, so be sure to check the other listings. 99 with no reserve with lots closing on September 21st. The dish painted in the center with a red dragon on a ground of waves behind him. The back of the dish painted with a similar motif and depicting nine various dragons on a ground of underglaze blue waves and all painted in red. The reverse of the dish with a Daoguang seal and as mentioned is of the period. It measures just under 7 inches across (17.5cm) across and is in excellent condition with no damage. Provenance: We recently acquired two similar. Dishes directly from a wealthy New England family and has never been on the market. They were given as wedding gifts by a wealthy friend in the 1950’s and has since been in the family. One dish was of the Daoguang period and one of the Qianlong period. As can be seen in the photos the family kept the original typed letter that was with the dishes when presented as a gift. The last two photos are to show how the dishes were presented to the family along with the letter. In addition, all questions must be asked at least 12 hours prior to a lot closing. This allows us time to inspect the item and take additional photos if needed. Many of the items we sell are well over 100 years old. Inherently, these items will have some minor or light wear. Any major flaws and damages ie. Chips or cracks will be clearly disclosed in the item description. Antique Chinese Cinnabar Dragon Plate NO RESERVE. Antique Chinese Cinnabar Dragon Plate. Without doubt Antique but exact age unknown. Carved Cinnabar Lacquer upon what looks to be some kind of white metal. Honest original condition with good patina and no major breaks or restorations. Cracking to the lacquer, visible metal very tarnished, a few losses to the lacquer on the underside of the plate. Approximately 17cms in diameter.
