Truly stunning antique hand sewn and embroidered hat in dragon motif. Made of silk and cotton fabrics. Skull cap is decorated to look like a dragon’s head with bulging eyes, horns, antlers, mouth with red ball inside. Believed to be for a child, possibly festival wear, and estimated to date to late Qing period. No odors, with age-related wear and fading including frayed tassels. Here for sale is a RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE 17th C LATE MING/EARLY QING SILK BROCADE’DRAGON’ ROBE for a high ranking official of imperial court then. With a side fastening, the blue. Damask silk with clouds background. Woven with clouds pattern and a design of dragons among. In yellow threads extending over the chest, shoulders and back, another border of similar design along the hem. Typical’dragon around the neck’ cloud shoulder pattern of mid 17C transition period between Ming and Qing Dynasty. Highly likely Ming but listed as Qing for cautious. Horse hoof cuffs removed(if it were Ming)Sleeves have been altered(if it were Ming), I can certainly tell whether it is of Ming or Qing if otherwise. The garment lined with antique 17-18C course orange cotton which has an Indian seal. It almost certain that it has been brought to Tibet and Tibetan people made minus alternation. One evidence is that the garment lined with antique 17-18C course orange cotton which has an Indian trade seal. That’s quite common for Chinese robes went to Tibet.
