This pretty antique belt has 16 carved pieces measuring 1 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches, plus 2 uncarved pieces, one with a carved out rectangle the other end has a hook, but the hook is broken. Total length is 32 inches edge to edge, fastened it’s about an inch less. If there is any problem with the item, you must contact me within 3 days of receipt. As is items are non refundable. This is a fine antique piece of Chinese soapstone, probably for use as a paperweight, and carved in shallow relief with a dragon amongst the clouds with shou symbols. It has been quite knocked about but that just shows its’ genuine age and use. A fair amount of general surface wear and chipping as per the photos below but no big losses and no repairs. ESTATE LOT ANTIQUE CHINESE CARVED STONE SOAPSTONE DRAGON SIGNED SCHOLARS SEALS. Hi, thank you for having a look at my auctions. Listed this week is the last and final session of this very fine and important estate collection. This is surely one of our Finest and Largest Asian art estate auctions to date. This sale offers a wide variety of examples spanning over several hundred years. The items listed are from an important Montreal estate collection. This collector was good friends with Alex Gurie of the famed Gurie Gallery of Montreal that specialized in Important Asian works of art. Gurie’s family owned an antique shop in Shanghai in the earlier 1900s period. During the fall of the Qing empire up to the cultural revolution period Gurie acquired a vast amount of important Chinese works of art with a main interest in Ming and pre Ming arts. The Imperial jade shop was located in the famous King Edward hotel located on King St in Toronto. The shop closed down for renovations in the year 1976 and the shop never reopened. I did not have time to list everything separately so I have made up over 70 estate treasure lots featuring over 500 individual items! I do wish everyone the very best of luck winning the auctions! I did not have time to list everything separately so thought I would make up some great treasure lots! This lot has some fine and unique antique examples. I believe the pieces are mainly carved of soapstone. Some of the seals are also signed to the sides. The one seal has a natural rock look the one side appears to be broken off but I actually think it is originally made like this. The seals show small imperfections and wear but are overall in substantially fine condition for their age measuring from 4 5/8 inches to 1 1/8 inches tall. BEST OF LUCK WITH THE AUCTIONS!
