Two brass trays with dragon designs. Large circular tray has barbed edges and a big symbol of “fo” – good fortune in the middle of two large confronting dragons. It has a scratched in China Mark. The smaller rectangular tray is older and better made. There are nice details with the oval openings and rounded feet. It has confronting dragon and phoenix and a stamped China mark. The technique of etching the designs can be compared to the fine brass and pewter products from Swatow (Shantou) in Fujian Province. Swatow was a large trading ports on the South China coast and these two trays were probably made for export. Dating: 1900 to 1920’s. Dimension: Large brass tray 14 inches in diameter. Small rectangular tray 9.5 inches x 6 inches x 1 inch high. Condition: Good antique condition with some discoloration. The round tray seems to be missing feet.
