We are pleased to offer for sale a very finely decorated Dragon Box and Cover from the late Qing Period. The box is finely decorated with impressed and incised details on a Persimmon-colored ground. Flying dragons are chasing flaming pearls amongst a sea of bats, clouds, and lingzhi. The sky is figured with repeating leiwen enclosing wan symbols. The top is gilt with the Qiangjin technique and is further painted in Tianqi polychrome enamels. Stunning example of lacquer-work. The box measures approximately 10 inches across.
