This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials. This beautiful bracelet comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period! Based on the style of this piece we can tell it is a Chinese Export! Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. The chasing technique is a very difficult silversmith process when the artist uses a nail like tool and hammer to hand etch patterns within the metal work. This process was very difficult and only the best jewelers were trained in the process. The gold work in this piece is entirely hand made out of 24k pure yellow gold and includes an intricate chased design! The design depicts a gorgeous dragon and phoenix on different sides of a gorgeous sun “ying & yang” symbol center piece. Both the phoenix and dragon are beautifully detailed with chased and carved details that includes lovely scales on the dragon, and fiery feathers on the flowing phoenix’s body. These carved designs are absolutely incredible! Along with the gorgeous carvings, there are also beautifully textured spots in the gold work behind the carvings and in a swirl pattern on the bottom side of the bracelet. These textured patterns were treated with diamond dust when they were being made, so they have a permanent diamond sparkle to them when you reflect them under light! The bracelet measures in at about 6.5 long and includes a gorgeous push in clasp that works perfectly. There’s a safety pin near the clasp which adds more security to your investment to make sure the bracelet doesn’t fall off! During the Art Deco Period it would of been incredibly difficult to get a hole of pure, 24k yellow gold to be worked on. Given how soft pure gold is, the metal is extremely hard to work on. Only the most talented gold smiths would of been trusted to work on this extraordinary piece! Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.
