Pair of Antique Chinese White Metal Repousse Photo Frames with Dragons c1900

0498 Chinese Silver Photo Frames. A very attractive pair of Chinese white metal photograph frames with Dragons. They are of repousse form with the dragons curled around the frames, and each also have Chinese character. There are no makers marks which I can find and the pair are unglazed. Date wise they are late 19th or early 20th century, the backing cards and stands are modern replacements (the original card examples having no doubt perished). A fine looking pair as can be seen in the images. Will hold a photo approx 9.5 by 12.7 cm. The metal work is good for period with typical minor wear and polishing. On both examples the pins holding the backing card jams have penetrated through the front leaving small holes and sharp points (near the bottom of the frames). The backs have aged as you would expect for card with a couple of the pin heads missing, wear and rubbing. The backing cards which hold the image in place and have the folding stands are modern replacements but work ok. The backing jams (the small metal tangs) are somewhat loose and move around easily. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right. This antique 19th century chinese pottery vase measures about 13 tall. In overall very fine antique condition showing a little light expected age wear. There is a glaze flake and nick on the top rim and a small base chip on bottom rim. Please view all photos for details. The background is cobalt blue with alternating hand painted gold phoenixes and gold dragons flying in the clouds? On the 8 panels as well as period designs. These early cloisonné pieces are superbly crafted, and have acquired a rich patina. They measure 7.25″ tall, and the base is 3.75″ in diameter. Both pieces are in excellent condition, free of dents, dings, or losses to the enamel. Although hard to detect, there appears to be a minor stress area at the top the base (as shown in the last photo). It is detected by some minor roughness, and perhaps some lightness in the blue.
