Chinese carved hardwood armchair which dates from the 19th century. It has a dramatic dragon design with a dragon carved back over a serpentine seat. The chair, flanked by outswept dragon carved arms, is raised on carved cabriole legs. The arm supports culminate in dragon heads with the thunderstorm pearl in their mouths. All exposed surfaces are beautifully carved. Dragon head arm rests with the body stretching to the back panel. Intricate carved detailing all over. Dragon heads on front two legs. Cloud detailing on back two legs. Paw feet on all four legs. Wear as shown in pictures. No cracks in wood. No damage other than normal wear from household use.
