This fine antique Chinese silk panel in blue with gold thread embroidery has two five claw dragons and two phoenix birds. Looks to be very old… I would guess it would be from the late 19th century… Not sure on age. The back lining has age spots with some small holes. The front is in excellent condition with a little discoloration on the upper right corner of the dark blue border. Part of the back lining has separated from the front bottom. This textile panel measures about 12 and 1/4″ x 25 and 1/2″. Panel looks much better in person than what my photos show. I have a hard time getting the correct color blue with my camera. Auctions is pleased to offer for sale a rare and gorgeous antique Chinese Compound Cabinet. It is beautifully crafted from rose wood – one of the rarest and most sought after of hardwoods – and originates from Hebei Province in China, which was renowned for cabinets with ornate carved decoration made during the Qing dynasty. Chinese cabinets were functional objects as well as works of art and came in various shapes, sizes, forms, and designs to hold a variety of objects, often in pairs symbolizing double-happiness. When a small chest is stacked on top of a regular-sized cabinet – or when two units of equal or different sizes are stacked on top of each other – the combination is collectively known as a compound cabinet. This fine compound cabinet is. Square-cornered with four doors, and features intricately carved auspicious symbols, including the legendary Chinese dragon. It is a showcase example of Chinese furniture distinguished by the beauty of the material and the simplicity of form reduced to flowing smooth lines and simple, extremely well constructed joinery. The measurements are 59.5 inches in length by 19.25 inches deep by 104.5 inches in height (151.1 cm by 48.8 cm by 265.4). It is in very good used condition, with wear consistent to a dating to the late mid-19th century. Importantly, it is an intact, original piece. It has a fine provenance coming from an important U. VERY OLD ANTIQUE CHINESE SILK SATIN AND FABRIC SKIRT TERRIFIC EXAMPLE OF HIGH CRAFTSMANSHIP AND QUALITY EMBROIDERY SKILLS. OVERALL THE CONDITION IS VERY GOOD CONSIDERING AGE AND USE. THOUGHT TO BE FROM THE LATE QING – 1800’S SATIN BACKGROUND IS CREAM WITH MULTI COLORED FLOWERS, BUTTERFLIES, DRAGONS AND TREES AND OTHER FOLIAGE EMBROIDERED THROUGHOUT THE PANELS. TRIMMED IN BLACK SATIN WITH PRINTED GOLD RIBBON TRIM ON TOP OF THAT. THE SKIRT IS LINED IN A YELLOW, FADED FABRIC THAT APPEARS TO BE SATIN AS WELL. THE WAISTBAND IS A HIGH QUALITY LINEN. AND IS WATER STAINED AND NEEDS CLEANING. ONE PANEL APPEARS TO HAVE SOME SORT OF FUR SEWN IN A SEAM IN A STRIP FOR ABOUT THIRTEEN INCHES. THE SKIRT IS APPROX. 39 INCHES LONG AND APPROX. 44 INCHES WIDE ACROSS TOP OF THE WAISTBAND. SKIRT IS PLEATED SO ITS DIFFICULT TO KNOW HOW TO MEASURE. THESE MEASUREMENTS ARE APPROXIMATE. THERE ARE NO RIPS OR TEARS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AN INCH OR TWO OF LOOSE BLACK TRIM. COULD BE EASILY MENDED. THE WHOLE PIECE NEEDS A THOROUGH CLEANING. THERE IS ONE BLUEISH DISCOLORATION THAT I’VE TRIED TO CAPTURE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH. THIS PIECE, ALONG WITH THE OTHER ASIAN TEXTILES I’VE RECENTLY LISTED, CAME FROM THE FAMILY OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER. Fine Chinese Embroidered Gauze Fan Case/Holder Dragon Motif Antique Excellent

Listed here is a very fine and uncommon Chinese fan holder/case with a dragon motif. The embroidery technique is counted stitch on gauze and very well done. The dragon is a four clawed dragon which would not violate the use of the Imperial five claw dragon on items not for the Imperial family. Overall in extremely fine condition with the original string holder and faux coral color beads. There is one very small area of loss to the embroidery near the top of the case on one side. Please see photo 7. Dragons are NOT seen on these types of accessories in fact I have only seen two in all my years of collecting. The case is not stiffened like some fan cases. Overall the length of the case is just over 12 inches. The bottom of the case is fine and intact with no loosening or loss to the silk. A very nice item for collectors of Chinese costume accessories.
