This fantastic early to middle 1900s in the mid-19th c. Style is finely cast with great hand finished details and warm brown waxed patina. It is cast, carved, and turned from a copper alloy brass? … And measures 19 tall x 12 ½ (including figural dragon handles) x 7 diameter at the engine turned (integral) base. As the photos show, the details are extra nice and include a full round elephant figure with raised trunk and vignettes of songbirds in Asian conifer trees. The lid is removable and the vessel holds water. I see no makers marks. Pair of silk 18the or 19the Century Chinese rank badges. Woven with gold thread throughout. One is in one piece, the other is in two pieces. Mounted to velvet board. Each measures approximately 11.5″ by 11″. The condition of the embroidery is excellent. There is water damage to approximately one third of the single-piece badge, but the fabric is sound and not disintegrated. Please look at the photos for more detail. Large Antique Carved Chinese Export Calling Card Case Dragons Birds Original Box

This is a large antique Chinese Export carved calling card case in it’s original glass fronted box with inscriptions on the bottom and top. One side is carved with dragons and the other side is carved with birds in bamboo and flowers. It measures 4 1/2 x 3 inches. There is some repaired damage to the one side of the slip on top. They had no children and Mrs. McCray was a collector of American furniture, fans, calling card cases, and Chinese export items. Most of her collecting was done from the 1930s through the 1950s. The fans and card cases were left to her niece and they have been in storage since then. The range is wonderful with European, American, and Chinese examples with no two alike. There are approximately 55 fans and 85 card cases, so it will take some time to sell them all. I will be listing then over the next few months, so please bookmark me.
