C1900 LARGE ANTIQUE CHINESE KUT HING SWATOW PEWTER ENGRAVED DRAGON TEA CADDY BOX. A superb hand crafted early 20. Century Chinese pewter tea caddy, of large rectangular form, the lid engraved. With a dragon above rolling waves, the sides with bamboo foliate detail, dating to circa 1900, and made by the well known firm Kut Hing, Swatow. The outer lid lifts off to reveal the inner lid, both of which fit so well that they create a vacuum within the caddy when lifting up the lids, protecting the contents from moisture. The base and the inner lid are signed with a stamped Kut Hing mark together with Chinese characters. Height: 10.2 cm. Cm or 5 1/2. Unpackaged weight: 2.1kg. In good antique condition, without damage or restoration, but with a few expected signs of use and dents to the edges commensurate with age.
