CHINESE EXPORT SILVER BOX c1875 DRAGONS IN WAVES – BREATHING FIRE A very fine, hand crafted c1875 (possibly earlier) Chinese export silver battling dragons in waves scholar’s box. Classic rectangular shape, with well hinged cover. The cover with dragons battling for the sacred pearl. Here the pearl is fiery orb design, not often seen. The dragons are rising from rolling waves. One breathing fire at a small fish below – an even more unique design feature. Framed in rolling leafy vine and chrysanthemum flower head border work. The sides and back panel with conforming dragon, and pear decoration, and rolling cloud border. The interior is solid silver, there are no wood panels or wood base, as found in lesser, later period boxes. This fine c1875 Chinese export silver dragon box is 7 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches. And it weighs 27 standard ounces. The box is 100% silver construction, there is no wood interior as found on many. Hallmarked in series of characters. In very fine condition. Antique solid silver tankard/cup – Chinese export 1890’s. Chinese export solid silver tankard with a bamboo designed handle and a raised dragon decoration. Also with engraved initials on the side. Vintage c1900 Wang Hing Chinese Export Solid Silver Dragon Open Salt Cellar & Liners A lovely pair of matching Chinese Export silver salt cellars adorned with dragons and made by Wang Hing Both are in excellent condition with minimal age related wear that does not detract from its overall presentation or use, there is some minor tarnishing in places. The glass liner of one has two chips to either side, they have been lightly filed at some point to soften the edges of the chips. PLEASE CHECK ALL MEASUREMENTS AND IMAGES. An antique beautiful quality Chinese silver export silver box which has a cylindrical shape with embossed dragons which have exceptional detail/definition one wraps itself around the entire outside the other adorns the top which has a blank/vacant cartouche in the centre and they sit proud of the box. It is a very aesthetically pleasing design even more so with the background to the dragons being planished/hand hammered and the original push lid is a perfect fit and both parts are gilded. It is not a small box and will arrived gift boxed. Material – silver- 90 standard [900/1000]. Hallmarks/marks – WH for Wang Hing & Co-90- unidentified Chinese symbol. Measurements – 5.5cm diameter-4cm high. Weight – 70 grams. Condition – beautiful condition-no dents-holes-splits-some light surface marks to cartouch and underside-lid locates fine and removes fine-there is 1 very small patch of the inside rim that is not 100 % totally smooth but it has no impact on the functionality what so ever and was difficult to capture in the images-but nothing to worry about. An exceptional silver cuff. This cuff features two roaring dragons with a beaded and woven design. It is not hallmarked for metal content, though it test positive for 900 to 925 silver. It measures 2 1/2 inches across with a 1 1/8 inch opening and is 1 7/8 inches at the widest point. The cuff weighs an impressive 78.8 grams. It does show wear commensurate with age, including small dings and scratches. Otherwise it is a unique and outstanding piece of Chinese Export silver.
