RARE CHINESE ANTIQUE 19th c QI’ING DYNASTY SILK DRAGON ROBE! The red silk of the robe decorated with 5-clawed dragons above lishui border with rolling waves surrounded with bats, sea shells, flowers, parasols, and other Buddhist auspicious symbols. The robe measures 41.5 (105.5 cm) long. Condition: good antique condition overal, considering the old age of the piece, with some staining, fading in couple of spots, and loss to the gilt of the golden metallic threads. Colors are still fresh and bright. Use the pictures as a part o f the condition report! This embroidered robe makes a beau tiful display and will be a valuable addition to any collection! RARE Antique Chinese Asian Silk Embroidered Dragon Jacket Robe Four Claws

Rare antique Qing dynasty silk jacket robe with eight embroidered four clawed dragons. The jacket is made of a dark blue silk with a light green lining and features a large copper embroidered dragon on the front. These dragon robes were worn by the emperor and his royal court during the Qing dynasty and symbolized the wearer’s rank. A robe with a four clawed dragon, called “the mang, ” was worn by princes and lower nobles. The color blue was also reserved for minor princes and noblemen as it was the official color of the Qing dynasty. The bottom of the robe features horizontal panel of green, blue, and brown embroidered diagonal stripes. Above the stripes are embroidered blue and white waves with what appears to be green and white temples as well as pink, red, and white lotus flowers. There is a smaller dragon on either side of the robe as well as on each shoulder that are embroidered in metallic copper thread with white, brown, green, and blue detailing. There are cords under the embroidery around the head to give it shape and the copper embroidery on the body is a weaving pattern to give the appearance of scales. The large dragon in the middle is also embroidered with metallic copper thread with padding in the forehead and nose to add dimension. The embroidery on the body is mimicking a scale pattern and there are brown, green, white, and blue embroidered details. There are smaller dragons embroidered around the cuffs and collar with metallic copper embroidered waves and clouds around them. The lower parts of the sleeves are a dark purple colored silk with metallic copper embroidered stripes. The embroidery on the front is also the same on the back. The robe has knotted and loop cord closures on the right side. This robe is AS IS condition, there is some damage but it is in wearable condition. Feel free to ask any questions and we can send you more pictures. There is a large 3 inch rip in the blue silk on the back of each shoulder. There is discoloration throughout. There is a small brown stain on the bottom front of the robe. There are some loose/pulled threads across the embroidery. Sleeve: 23 inches (from shoulder seam). Vintage Antique Chinese Embroidered Robe Jacket Orange Silk Dragons AS IS. This is in rough shape–very rough shape. It might look quite a bit better in the photos than it does in real life. It has rips everywhere and undone seams and raw edges. And did I mention rips? It’s not that the silk is rotting and fragile, it actually feels fairly sturdy so I don’t know why there are so many rips. Was this kept in a trunk in someone’s home along with old dresses for dress up time for kids? For a school play? Looks like someone tried to sew up some of the rips at some point. It’s really a shame because the colors and embroidery is just stunning. There is a robe that has embroidery featuring a stylized dragon chasing the flaming pearl along with other Chinese motifs. Rare Antique blue silk Chinese dragon robe embroidered gold lamé Asian jacket

We list new items frequently. This antique silk Chinese dragon robe jacket has beautiful embroidery and details, and probably dates to about the 1920s but could easily date to earlier. It is especially hard to date textiles like these. Fine hand embroidery was an art form in China for centuries (before Marco Polo arrived in the 13th century). Chinese export goods were still popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when this jacket/robe was made. Interest faded after the 1920s, so the quality of hand work declined. This piece was expertly made of quality materials, so we can be certain it dates to the 1920s or earlier. This jacket is made of a gorgeous deep blue silk with gold, red, and green embroidery of dragons and swirling motifs. The dragons all feature white eyes with black embroidered pupils looking in various directions. There is a 12 thick band of thick striped lamè embroidery at the hem, and the sleeve and neck are edged in thick/stiff brown and gold embroidery. The closures are decorated gold metal ball buttons with frogs. The embroidery is overall in good condition for its age, but there are some definite issues, especially on the left sleeve (please view photos for close ups of this damage). In this area, whole pieces of the striped embroidery have come unfastened from the garment and the thread is hanging loose. The thread is still there, so this could be repaired/conserved. The sleeves are lined in electric blue brocade silk, but the bulk of the garment is unlined. You can see the back of the intricate embroidery work through the blue silk on the back. The seams are secure and there is no silk shredding or dry rot. There are no water stains, and I have not tried cleaning this piece at all. There are a few yellowing stains (<1/4) throughout the garment, but this is barely noticeable on the dark blue silk. With a little bit of TLC especially regards to the embroidery, this could be an amazing decorative or display piece. It is even wearable if you so choose! Rare antique Chinese late Qing Dynasty red lady’s silk jacket, featuring 10 5-claw golden dragons amidst clouds, bats and Taoist treasure symbols. The dragons are mostly embroidered in couched gilt-wrap threads. Also featuring a pair of fold-out blue sleeve bands, each embroidered with a dragon and a lion. Lined with patterned blue silk brocade. Condition: Overall very good. Wear and damage from age. Loose threads and splits, mostly on shoulders and sleeves. Circa 1930s-40s or possibly late 19th century Chinese silk jacket with beautifully handcrafted metallic embroidery. Features three dimensional dragons & phoenixes & two-dimensional roses. The creatures also have pearls for eyes. In fair to good pre-owned condition for its age. There are issues with loose threads throughout both arm areas & along the trimmings. I tried to highlight most of the flaws in photos. Can provide more photos upon request. The silk lining is faded pink with red dye stains. Arm to arm span: 52. Length beneath collar: 26′. This is a Beautiful Antique Silk Chinese Jacket from the late 1800’s – early 1900’s! LABEL: none Fabric is a light to medium-weight silk… Jacket is embroidered with beautiful rainbow of colours. The jacket is lined with a light-weight silk… Design: abbreviated stand-up collar… Black satin trim along collar, down center front, and along hemline… 3/4 length wide sleeves… Satin knot frog closure down center front. The embroidery is just beautiful and consists of flowers, some kind of winged insect or bird, people resting near a fence amongst flowers, and the most impressive along the hemline of waves and dragons. The structure is sound and the colour of the embroidery is superb. There is storage soiling and yellowing throughout. The lining shows storage yellowing-soiling as well. See detailed photos for examples. The sleeve cuffs show significant yellowing and some brown spots -see photos. There is a hole measuring 3/8 in diameter at corner-top of the bottom, right medallion on the back of the jacket -see photo. There is a thin spot on the top of the left shoulder -see photo. There are minor almost-thin areas at the top of the right shoulder. There is a separation at the seam of the armpit – measuring 1/2 in length. Such an amazing piece of textile history! Elaborate Antique Chinese Heavy Gold Thread Silk Dragon Kimono Jacket. Jacket is a black silk with gold thread exterior with a robin egg blue silk interior. Jacket is wearable and exquisite with some light brownish age discoloration along with several tiny holes primarily at interior hem edge. Exterior appears perfect but with scrutiny a break in the silk along both sleeves from shoulder to cuff is detected. Jacket is wearable as is as this damage is not obvious unless fabric on the sleeve is separated; or jacket is ideal for the gold motifs to be used for other projects. Jacket measures 17″ from shoulder to hem, 16.5 from cuff to neckline and 21″ measured flat from underarm seam of sleeve to sleeve.
