Antique Chinese Kesi Chair Cover With 5-Clawed Dragons, 19th C. Chair cover woven with 5-clawed imperial dragons above lishui borders amidst Buddhist emblems, all against a blue ground. Size: 43.2 cm x 151.3 cm (17 in x 59.5 in). Condition: Heavy stains to both the front and back, some parts worn off, as shown on the picture. LARGE Antique CHINESE Silk KESI Tapestry PANEL Robe DRAGONS approx. 68x 37

DESCRIPTION Very large and finely detailed antique Chinese kesi tapestry panel most likely from a 19th century robe. More recently backed with linen and then cotton, the panel is slightly wider at the bottom and is not truly rectangular but slightly trapezoidal (please see measurements). This item has been relisted due to an error in my first listing. CONDITION The condition of the panel is very good with some signs of wear and age There are some scattered losses to the metallic embroidery within the black border. The largest area can be seen in photo 9. There are some small spots of tearing or extened opening at the slits in between colors. These can be found on close inspection. Please see close up photos 10 & 11. Creases and rumpling, (I have not ironed or pressed the fabric). Please enlarge and view all photos as part of the description, thank you. SIZE The width of the tapestry panel at the top measures 65 3/4 and the width at the bottom measures 67 3/4. The height of the tapestry is 37. The linen backing extends between 6-8 beyond the edge of the tapestry. VERY NICE ANTIQUE CHINESE BLUE SILK-GROUND KESI `DRAGON’ ROBE, MANGPAO. Finely worked in couched gold threads and satin stitch on the front and back with five-clawed dragons, shou characters, bats, cranes and Daoist emblems, interior lined with blue silk. 80″ across X 54″ long. 19th to early 20th century. This dragon robe is the most well kept robe I’ve ever seen, excellent condition with no damages. It’s been stored away for a long time and this is first time offered in the public. Antique Chinese Qing dynasty early 19th Century rare ceremonial outer garment of a high official as it holds five clawed dragons. It is entirely and very elaborately woven in real Kesi technique and offers a large dragon above ocean waves and rocks in front. The dominant pattern consists of clouds, which have the form of ruyi heads of the dignity sceptre. Fluttering between them are bats and red swastika symbols of long life. Original gold yellow silk lining on the inside. Absolutely authentic and in bright vibrant colour with traces of wear and small faults and repairs due to age mostly near the sleeves. Very rare antique Chinese late Qing Dynasty brown Kesi (K’o-Ssu) silk tapestry dragon robe (Ji-Fu). Featuring 9 golden 5-claw dragons with clouds, bats, cranes, double-happiness characters and Taoist treasure symbols. Lined with light blue fabric and complete with golden brocade trims, 5 gilt-metal toggle buttons and horse-hoof cuffs lined with blue brocade woven with small roundels. Ndition: Good overall, wear and damage from age, particularly splits and losses on the shoulders and cuffs. Measurements: Cuff to cuff 210cm, collar to hem 134cm, armpit to armpit 72cm.
