Beautiful & unique estate vintage antique Chinese export dragon bead necklace & bracelet set. Large round antique double sided dragon beads, green enamel over copper with finely detailed silver overlay dragons measure 1 ½ x 9/16 deep. Peking jade glass beads & coral glass accents. Antique Chinese Export Silver LUEN WO Deskset 2bl Inkwell w Dragon (#5267)

Antique Chinese export silver double inkwell deskset with mythological horned beast / dragon. Silver and hard wood. Made in Shanghai, China, circa 1880 – 1910. Measurements: 6 inches (15cm) accross. Total weight is approx 430grams (including wood base). Stands on 4 ball feet with a silver frame under the wooden base to reinforce the stand and support the feet. The wood is old hardwood, with a beautiful patina after well over 100 years. A pair of inkwells with hinged lids. The 4 sides of the inkwells with repousse patterns featuring people in landscapes and a variety of flowers. Caps with key-pattern around their perimeter. Between the inkwells is a marvellous horned beast. The pen or brush would be held in his long, branching antlers. He has huge poppy eyes, an open mouth with detailed teeth and tongue and fiery mane and coat with a variety of textured treatments to the surface. Marked underneath LUEN WO in English as well as in Chinese ideograms. Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age. A similar inkstand is to be seen on page 61 of Chinese Export Silver, The Chan Collection. Despite the similarity of the dragon, the piece was made by Tuck Chang, who worked at approximately the same time as Luen Wo. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE. See our policies below.
