Antique Chinese Summer Gauze Silk Embroidered Dragon Robe. Century or Late 18. This is the front of a robe. A very early antique summer BROWN silk gauze, five dragon embroidered piece. Hand stitched it depicts 5 dragons amongst swooping bats, and flowers, amongst flowing clouds, above rolling waves with the land uprising. It is in strong condition, showing age, lightly soiled, please note the top right shoulder is cut out. I do not know the history of this robe frontal piece. It is said that BROWN is considered an off shade of yellow, and was used by other members of the Imperial Family….. This piece could be IMPERIAL. It measures 51 inches from sleeve tip to tip. It is 66 inches long. Condition Good, good overall old look, showing age, lightly soiled, cut at shoulder. Size —51 x 66 inches. Age — 1790 – 1850. It will be packed in a small box.
