Up for sale is this rare antique Chinese 18th / 19th C Chinese square silk embroidery textile rank badge of highest official rank as the center motif is a large 4-claw dragon. Gorgeous blues and lovely wave and cloud detail. Turned into a tea tray with copper handles perhaps in the late 19th C. Behind glass and looks to be in excellent condition! Tea tray frame measures 11.4 inches by 11.4 inches or 29 cm by 29 cm. Badges for the imperial court, including the Emperor and his consorts, princes and highest rank officials depict a dragon in center. Antique 19th Century Rank Badge Embroidery – Dragon with Gold & Silver Threads. This Chinese panel measures 11 inches by 9 1/2 inches. There is a Dragon in the centre. I do not believe the photographs I have taken show that it is quite dark in colour – I think the threads are gold and silver ones – the whole embroidery has been done on a very fine black material. The dragon’s eyes are black but slightly raised from the tapestry. There does not seem to be any damage to the embroidery – it is very finely worked with the tiniest of stitches used. Antique Chinese Qing dynasty early 19th Century rare ceremonial outer garment of a high official as it holds five clawed dragons. It is entirely and very elaborately woven in real Kesi technique and offers a large dragon above ocean waves and rocks in front. The dominant pattern consists of clouds, which have the form of ruyi heads of the dignity sceptre. Fluttering between them are bats and red swastika symbols of long life. Original gold yellow silk lining on the inside. Absolutely authentic and in bright vibrant colour with traces of wear and small faults and repairs due to age mostly near the sleeves.
