PLEASE SEE OUR NEW LISTING OF CHINESE ANTIQUES THIS WEEK! This is an exceptional antique Chinese silk embroidered dragon robe. Five clawed with nine dragons (for high rank, probably a noblewoman). In a scarce color, the ground is burgundy (looks redder in picture). The dragons are in couched gold threads. Finely embroidered with great detail. Made in the Guangxu Period, late 19th/early 20th century. Condition, on the purple border near the neck there are a few small areas of separtion to the purple silk (the longest is only 2 inches), slightest fading, needs a loop for gold ball at neck, edge of neck border with slightest wear. It is actually in good condition aside from these minor things. Length 53 1/2 inches, width at bottom 36 inches. This is a Gorgeous Antique Chinese Silk Dragon Rank Badge. The workmanship and details on the Dragon Rank Badge is just fabulous. The fine satin stitching really brings out the fine details on the clouds, bats, and symbols. The dragon is made out of fine gold metallic thread with Satin stitching. The age of the Rank badge is late 19th century or middle of it. This Rank badge wasnt’t just given to anybody they were only given to the imperial families. Lining is intact , there are a few loose threads but other than that this is in amazing condition. This measures up to 42″ across at the chest 52″across at the bottom and it is approx 26 in length. The Rob has birds (crans), flowers and other decorations in spun gold and silk. Wonderful cloth, see decoration. Missing buttons, tears to button loups, needs restoration. RARE ANTIQUE 19/ 20th c QI’ING DYNASTY CHINESE SILK EMBROIDERED DRAGON ROBE! The robe embroidered in golden metallic gold wrapped? Threads using couching technique Features 9 profile and front faced 5- claw dragons among endless knots , flowers, vessels, flaming wheels, clouds, scrolls, bats, and other Buddhist auspicious symbols. Border with rolling waves and flowers. The robe measures 53 (134.6 cm) long. Condition: good antique condition overall, considering the old age of the piece, with (see pictures). Some staining, pulling and loss to the golden metallic threads in spots; alteration to the calves and the border of the collar 9see pictures; tearing to the black silk material near the collar. COLORFUL ANTIQUE CHINESE ROBE JACKET WITH GILT DRAGONS

Chamberlain Antiques is very pleased to offer a very important collection of Asian antiques and works of art. Included in this sale are many fine pieces of Chinese porcelains, bronzes, jades, and other works of art. Also include is small fine selection of Japanese art and antiques. There are many museum quality items in this sale, and as usual, all are being offered without reserve. This listing is for a wonderful Chinese silk robe dating to the 19th century. It is done on an orange ground and is decorated with gilt dragons, blue clouds, and accented with flowers. Detail is excellent and colors are still vibrant. The robe measures 44 inches top to bottom and 58 inches across the sleeves. The robe still displays quite well but there is some loose threading and considerable fraying to the orange ground. In addition there is some minor loss and wear consistent with age. Still a beautiful Chinese robe from the 19th century or earlier. In addition, all questions must be asked at least 12 hours prior to a lot closing. This allows us time to inspect the item and take additional photos if needed. Many of the items we sell are well over 100 years old. Inherently, these items will have some minor or light wear. Any major flaws and damages ie.
