Antique Qing Chinese Export Yixing Stoneware Pewter Mount Dragon Teapot 17cm 7

This antique teapot dates to the late 19th century Qing Dynasty. There are no China or Made in China marks. There is a makers seal on the base which is unfamiliar to me and some Chinese characters in the centre of the lid. The teapot is made of red / terracotta coloured Yixing stoneware with pewter mounts in the form of dragons. There are fine copper details to the spout. The handles are made of brass attached by nicely modelled hands to copper mounting rings. The teapot has a patina consistent with age and much usage. There is small nibble / dent out of the pewter at the edge of the base. I have tilted the pot in photo 4 to make this obvious. The pewter mounts are finely made and in good antique condition. There is no knob on the lid (by design). There are 2 hoop handles attached the main body of the pot. It would have originally been part of a full Yixing pewter tea set made for the European (mainly British) export market. This is a rare and beautiful original antique object. The teapot measures 17cm (6.7) in diameter. 21cm (8) acros the spout. It stands 10.5cm (4.1) tall. It weighs 1040g(2lbs 5ozs). It holds about 900ml (1.5 UK pints) Please study the photos. Red Yixing clay stoneware. Impressed marks in Chinese characters. Yee Dzu Ching Chefoo. No knob on the lid by design. Pewter with brass details, dragon eyes. Some damage to the inside of the lid, not visible when lid is in place. 11 cm tall 20 cm to the end of the spout and weighs just over 2 lbs. 4″ tall 7″ to the end of the spout. Antique Yixing 5pc tea set pewter dragon red stoneware Tungshan Weihaiwei China

Early 1900’s Chinese Yixing style. 5 pc tea and coffee set made from Zhu sha clay. And overlaid with a pewter pattern depicting dragons (the tray also has some bats for good measure). The set is made by Tung King Shun Factory, Wei Hai Wei. You can see how much these sets sell for here. Of particular interest – the large teapot has a Chinese coin inserted in the lid and a small piece of silver embedded in the filter inside. The coffee pot has an interesting twisting lid mechanism. Tray – scuffing and scratches. Large teapot – some damage to pewter overlay. Coffee pot – some light scuffing. Sugar bowl – damage to pewter on the lid and a chip on the underside of the lid. Total weight – 2685 g. 46 x 25.5 x 3.5 cm overall. 43.5 x 23 x 2 cm inside. 9 cm tall to lid. 19 cm from spout to handle. 24 fl oz / 700 ml capacity. 14.5 cm from spout to handle. 16 fl oz/ 475 ml capacity. 17.5 cm from spout to handle. 11 fl oz/ 330 ml capacity. 12 cm from handle to handle.
