GORGEOUS ANTIQUE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN DRAGON BOWL KANGXI PERIOD

Chamberlain Antiques LLC is back once again with a wonderful offering of Asian antiques and works of art. This week we will be offering a large array of porcelain, bronze, jade, silver, and other works of art. There are many museum quality examples included, so be sure to check the other listings. 99 with no reserve with lots closing on September 21st. The bowl is hand painted around the exterior with three dragons flying amongst meandering vines above a ring of ruyi. The interior painted with a central roundel containing a single dragon. The underglaze blue art work if fine quality with crisp lines and of a vibrant cobalt blue color. It stands on a tall thin foot and was part of the impressive collection of James E. Breece III which was extensively displayed in many institutions and museums across the country. The bowl measures 6.2 inches (15.75cm) across and stands 2.75 inches (7cm) tall. Condition is excellent with only one small nip on the outside of the foot. In addition, all questions must be asked at least 12 hours prior to a lot closing. This allows us time to inspect the item and take additional photos if needed. Many of the items we sell are well over 100 years old. Inherently, these items will have some minor or light wear. Any major flaws and damages ie. Chips or cracks will be clearly disclosed in the item description. RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE DAOGUANG MARK + PERIOD BLUE RED DRAGON DISH PLATE

The dish painted in the center with a red dragon on a ground of waves behind him. The back of the dish painted with a similar motif and depicting nine various dragons on a ground of underglaze blue waves and all painted in red. The reverse of the dish with a Daoguang seal and as mentioned is of the period. It measures just under 7 inches across (17.5cm) across and is in excellent condition with no damage. Provenance: We recently acquired two similar. Dishes directly from a wealthy New England family and has never been on the market. They were given as wedding gifts by a wealthy friend in the 1950’s and has since been in the family. One dish was of the Daoguang period and one of the Qianlong period. As can be seen in the photos the family kept the original typed letter that was with the dishes when presented as a gift. The last two photos are to show how the dishes were presented to the family along with the letter. In addition, all questions must be asked at least 12 hours prior to a lot closing. This allows us time to inspect the item and take additional photos if needed. Many of the items we sell are well over 100 years old. Inherently, these items will have some minor or light wear.
